Social work students from Black and global majority backgrounds can be under-represented on social work courses as well as on placement. It is important to look at their needs through an intersectional lens, to ensure appropriate support is provided, bearing in mind cultural differences. As practice educators it is also important to look at biases that can impact your decision making and to develop your anti-racist practice to enable students to thrive and not just survive social work training and placements.
