Much has been said about the impact of Covid-19 on younger generations but the pandemic has also had a serious and lasting effect on the physical and mental wellbeing of older adults. Signs of mental distress and problems like substance misuse often go unrecognised in this group, making it harder for them to access the support they need. This session will look at ways to support older adults maintain and regain their independence and improve their physical and mental health in a post-Covid world.

Attend this session to:

  • Understand the impact Covid and de-conditioning has had on the physical and mental wellbeing of older adults
  • Gain insights into what support makes a difference to older people affected by alcohol and substance misuse including over-use of prescription medication
  • Learn how to recognise the more subtle signs of mental distress in older people and develop your practice to help them regain confidence and independence
